Fernando Torres Odds - Next Club?

torres odds Fernando Torres Odds Next Club? After a disastrous career spell at Chelsea, ex-Liverpool scoring star of previous seasons Fernando Torres has been released by Chelsea who will be prepared to take a loss on the mis-firing striker. Torres never found his feet or indeed his scoring boots at Chelsea, and it seems the label of most expensive footballer EVER, was just too much pressure for a player who was already actually on a bit of a downturn in form in his later days at Liverpool. The heights of his debut season at Liverpool with a 33 goal tally and regular spell binding incisive killer instinct on display, in the later Roy Hodgson days Torres waned until the self-off to Chelsea, at that time in need of a world class striker to end reliance on Didier Drogba, and the £50M (yes, five-zero million - sounds like a bankers bonus doesn’t it) price tag was happily paid by Messrs Abramovich and Co, convinced this would lead them to Premisership and Champions League success. But how differently it ended.

So, fast forward to December 2011 and Nando is up for sale estimated £20M this time if that, and SKYBET are the first bookmaker to bring out odds on which club he’ll go to. So far Athetico Madrid are favourites to give the wounded Spanish hero and International veteran a peaceful home for some convalescence. They are at odds of 5/1, also Malaga at 5/1, then Real Madrid at 7’s and surprisingly perhaps the odds for him to return to next Liverpool at 12/1 - there’s a precedent for successful returns of course with Bellamy now looking sharp as ever under King Kenny, but surely for Torres himself the humiliation would be too much - or would it..? 12/1 seems about right though, but as a boyhood Kop fan back in Spain you can’t rule it out.

Grand National Countdown

The 2010 Grand National is nearly upon us, and Ladbrokes have compiled all the odds for the big day - here’s a Grand National Update:

Big Buck’s (1/3) heads the market for the first race of the meeting, the BGC Partners Liverpool Hurdle. The experienced Tidal Bay (5/1) was disappointing at Cheltenham and will be looking for a much-improved performance tomorrow. However, no horse over nine years old has won this race since Deano’s Beeno in 2003.

The highlight race on Day 1 sees the Cheltenham Gold Cup hero Imperial Commander (10/11)contest the totesport Bowl Chase. He will face four other rivals in this Grade 1 contest, including the Paul Nicholls trained What A Friend (3/1).

The quality racing continues into Friday with the Melling Chase and the Sefton Novices’ Hurdle.

With the big race fast approaching, Laddies’ are offering Non Runner Money Back on all Grand National runners. Don’t delay make your selections now at Ladbrokes.com

Cheltenham Gold Cup Day!

After three days of thrilling jumps action all eyes turn to the Cheltenham Gold Cup as Kauto Star and Denman square off for the third time. Although Kauto Star (5/6) has two Gold Cups to his name, the head to head score is 1-1. Ruby Walsh will be onboard Kauto and AP McCoy will be on Denman (9/2). ‘The Tank’ unseated McCoy at Newbury last month, which raised serious questions about his chances. The fall has overshadowed his impressive Hennessy victory in November when carrying top weight.

Imperial Commander is 7/1, he came second to Kauto in a very close finish in November’s Betfair Chase, but was a disappointing fifth in the King George VI. However, his connection’s will be boosted by the fact that no ten-year-old has won the Gold Cup since Cool Dawn in 1998, which goes against Nicholls’ big two - all the late odds available from Ladbrokes.com for the big day.
